A collaboration between the Trauma Injury Prevention and
Outreach Coordinators at Children's National Medical Center, The
George Washington University Hospital, Howard University Hospital, INOVA Fairfax Medical Campus, MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Prince George's Hospital Center; the first Maryland Trauma center to join the collaboration.

In 2013, The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for Washington, DC investigated 316 accidental deaths. Of that number, 52.06% were directly associated with falls, traffic crashes and other traumatic injuries


According to the CDC, the impact of injuries is felt on every continent. Regardless of gender, race, or economic status, injuries remain a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for more than 5.8 million deaths each year. Injuries kill more people ages 1–44 in the U.S. than any other causes
