In 2010, The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for Washington, DC reported over 39% of all deaths were injury related.* Of traffic accidents 43% were pedestrians.

According to the CDC, the impact of injuries is felt on every continent. Regardless of gender, race, or economic status, injuries remain a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for more than 5.8 million deaths each year. Injuries kill more people ages 1–44 in the U.S. than any other causes
