The Elderly Falls Prevention

Program provides community education on the risk of falls in the senior population. There are several factors that can contribute to serious falls including adjusting to medication, mixing medications with other medications and/or alcohol, loss of strength and balance, changes in vision, and environmental hazards in the home. Presentations are arranged to fit the needs of the requestor.

Child Passenger Safety Education Program.

Inova provides child passenger education to new and expectant parents. The classes are held at Inova Fairfax Hospital on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30AM-12:230pm on the FCC Unit. Classes are held at Inova Alexandria Hospital on Tuesdays from 3pm-4pm. Please call 703-776-3259 for more details.

Reality Check...

is a unique program developed by the Inova Trauma Center that promotes safety and education for young drivers and their parents. Each year in our community, approximately 10,000 public high school students take some form of drivers education. In its safe driver injury prevention program, Reality Check targets young drivers to reduce teenage driving under the influence (DUI), distracted, and reckless driving. It also helps their parents learn to be good mentors and driving coaches.

This two-hour program is designed for newly licensed teenage drivers, those who will soon become licensed to drive, and their parents. The students will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Prior to beginning the program, all students are required to take an attitudinal survey concerning safe driving decisions.
